I am looking for a company or someone to make a latch hook rug pattern?

I have a pattern, it is a pic. of tinkerbell in a heart with my leagues name on it....i know tinkerbell is a trade mark, but if i change the color of her outfit, then it wont be a trade mark any more. I am looking for someone to make me a pattern and tell me what colors to get, or for a company to make the whole latchhook rug kit. I want to make this for my head leader of our league. Please find any guru to help you.

I may be simple minded, but aren't latchhook patterns just drawn on a piece of latchhook canvas? Why couldn't you get a friend to draw it on. The canvas is sold at craft shops. You could just repeat the colors on what you have, but change a couple.
That is a good question? My grandma does latchhooks, and i wish there were moredesigns to choose from, or that you could send in a pic of your dog or whatever. And they could make one from a picture?
But the canvas is like a net. How would you draw on it?

How do I keep latch hook rug yarn knots from loosening and coming undone?

(LATH HOOK RUGS) I have been working on a rug and some of the knots are coming loose, I am afraid it will fall apart. Is there something i can do to prevent this?

I have several latch hook designs that I have done over the last 35 years or so and they are still holding strong.

I pull the yarn taught (not really as tight as I can pull, as it may break). I wiggle the yarn a bit as I pull it taught. I do this for each piece as I put it on. If I notice one is not tight or has worked loose, I just re-tighten it. Sometimes when you're working on the design or folding it, etc. the peices can come loose, but once the design is done, it should be fine. Never had one come undone yet.

You could possibly use the stuff they put on the back of throw rugs to keep them from moving, I think it's rather thin and would keep the back nice.

You might consider using a dab of glue - maybe even a dot of hot glue -on each knot (I would do a row of yarn, and then glue that row before moving on to the next row).

what i do is, i do a couple of rows, stop, and pull the yarn tight. that way it will stay tight...good luck

Comb as much pet hair out of the rug as possible with a wide-tooth plastic comb--take care not to split the yarn fibers. Or, use your fingers.

How to Make a Latch Hook Rug Frame

Latch hook rugs are created by looping a metal hook through a hole in a large mesh piece and attaching a piece of yarn to the hole. While the rugs can be quite beautiful, they can also be difficult to put together. The bigger the rug, the harder it is to hold the mesh in place. An easy solution to this problem and something that you can do at home is to create a latch hook rug frame.
1. Step 1
Purchase or find an old fashioned folding wood clothes dryer. These may also be called collapsible clothes dryers depending on where you shop. If you’ve ever seen a latch hook rug frame, they look very similar to these dryers though they cost much more. These dryers fold up when not in use, which makes them and excellent choice if you’re short on space.
2. Step 2
Raise the dryer up to its full size position so you can see exactly how tall it is and if you need to make any adjustments. Most have three levels, but some have four, five or six levels. If you to make it shorter, simply cut off the legs of the dryer with the handsaw.
3. Step 3
Attach your small storage boxes to the side of the clothes dryer, right at the very top bar. These little boxes should be very small, only 1-2 inches long or across. Alternatively you can use a longer box and place small cardboard dividers inside. Small nails hammered through the boxes into the top rail of the dryer will give you a place to store your yarn pieces and other tools.
4. Step 4
Set up your frame and see how the height works for you. Sit down in your favorite chair where you usually work and see how the system works for your needs. You might find that you need to remove another level of the clothes dryer or sand down the edges to make it more level.
5. Step 5
Finish off your latch hook rug frame by knocking out any of the cross pieces that are still in the clothes dryer. These pieces do little more than give you extra space to hang your clothes on it so they aren’t actually needed. Once they’re gone though you’ll have room to slide your legs under the frame. Give the cross pieces a few good hits with your hammer and they’ll pop right out. Then you’ll have a latch hook frame you can use for years to come.

2. Step 2
Open the kit. You will find balls of yarn that are cut into one length that you will use on the mesh canvas that is included in the kit. You should also find a latchhook and masking tape that you will use in the making of your rugs.

3. Step 3
Cover the ends of the mesh with the masking tape. This will protect it from unraveling as you are working your latch hook rug.

4. Step 4
Use the color key and the color symbol chart to duplicate the design on your canvas. One piece of yarn will be used for each hole in the mesh.

5. Step 5
Begin at the chart's lower left corner mark and work in horizontal rows. Complete each row using the colors called for before moving onto the next row. The canvas is also colored so you only need to refer to the chart when in doubt. There are times when the colors will blend together so you may not be sure which color to use.

6. Step 6
Continue until you have every hole in the canvas mesh filled in and you will have a complete latch hook rug.

7. Step 7
Decide what you would like your latch hook rug to be: you can make a pillow, a wall hanging or a rug. Depending on which one you choose will depend on how you finish your rug. Either way you need to trim the canvas to one inch around the hooked area and baste it in place.

Latch hooking a rug is simple, relaxing and fun. There are many easy patterns and plenty of advanced patterns to choose from. Make your own rug, pillow or wall hanging using these basic steps to get you started.
1. Purchase a latch hooked rug kit. It should contain:
• Cut yarn and Latch Hook
• Latch hook
• Some cut yarn
• Canvas
• A canvas; and Instruction Kit
2. Read the instructions for the rug. Learn which colors are represented by which symbols on the chart.
3. Sort out the cut yarn pieces by color.
4. Begin hooking the rug.
4.1.Begin at the lower left hand corner, or start at the lower right hand corner if you are left handed, and take a string of the first color.
4.2.Loop or fold the yarn around the base of the hook, beneath the swinging latch.

4.3.Stick the hook under the canvas bar in the bottom of the first square, so that the latch passes under the canvas bar and back up to the top side again.
4.4.Take the ends of the loop and put them over the canvas bar, through the latch and under the actual hook.
5.Close the latch and pull firmly on the hook handle so that you're pulling the yarn ends back under the canvas bar and through the original loop. The yarn should be neatly attached to the canvas by a slip-type knot (sometimes known as a larkshead knot).
6.Continue across the row, paying close attention to the color chart.
7.Proceed row by row up the pattern until you're done.
Tips
• Not all kits include a "background" color. You may need to purchase extra cut yarn. (Available at most craft and fabric stores.)
• If you mess up on the pattern and mix up some colors by accident, it's easy to pull the knots out and correct the mistake.
• Avoid the temptation to do the canvas by color rather than by row. Hooking around an already hooked area is tedious and frustrating. Going bottom to top, row by row is the simplest method.
• As you complete each row, check for loose yarn and tighten them. (It's easier to see loose yarn through the backside of the rug.
• For less scratchy edges, use masking tape to tape the edges of the canvas.

Small latch hook rugs are perfect projects to make into pillows. Here is a list of supplies that you will need:

* Small latch hook rug kit,
* Material,
* Stuffing,
* Thread or yarn,
* Needle,
* Scissors, and
* Safety pins (optional).

First, complete your latch hook rug according to the kit instructions. Once you have finished, you will need to
trim the excess canvas from the latch hook rug. Leave 3 to 4 empty rows.

Next, you will need to cut your material. This material will form the back of the latch hook pillow. To determine
the size you should cut the fabric to, measure the length and width of the latch hook rug. Then add 4 inches to
these measurements. For example, if your rug is 12" by 12", then you should cut your material to 16" by 16". If
you want a bigger or fluffier pillow, you can always cut the fabric to a larger size.

Sew fabric to latch hook rugNow you are ready to attach the latch hook rug and the fabric backing. Take your
piece of fabric and fold the edges over the wrong side by ¾ of an inch and pin them in place. Then, match up
the right side of the latch hook rug with the right side of your material. Sew the latch hook rug and the material
together by hand, placing one stitch for every square on the latch hook canvas. Sew only the bottom, right and top edges together. To make it easier to sew, you can use safety pins to pin the edges together.

until you are happy with the thickness of the pillow. Then sew the left side shut. You have now finished your
latch hook pillow and it is ready to go on a bed, a chair or on a shelf.

Rugs or Wall Hangings

For latch hook rugs that are too large to be made into a pillow, you can always use them as a decorative rug or
hang them on a wall. Here is a list of supplies that you will need:

* Large latch hook rug,
* Yarn, and
* Slender rod (optional).

Running stitchFirst, turn the edges of the latch hook rug over to the back. Next, use the yarn to sew a running
stitch through the bottom and side edges in order to keep them in place. If you are turning your latch hook
project into a rug, then do the same for the top. Once you have finished tacking the edges to the back of the rug,
it is ready to be used.

However, if you are turning your latch hook project into a wall hanging, the top requires an extra step. That's
because a rod will be used to hold the latch hook rug up on the wall. It's easy to add this rod in before you
tack your top edge in place. Start by placing the rod at the top of the latch hook rug and then turn the excess
canvas over the rod. Use your yarn to sew a running stitch along the top edge. Finally, decide where you would

like to place your latch hook wall hanging and use nails to attach the rod to the wall. You now have a beautiful
latch hook wall hanging!

The wool, or fabric, is held in place by the weave of the burlap. Here in Labrador mat hookers use Scottish Brin that has a tighter weave than some burlap and is better for finer wools and thinner fabric strips.

yes they are really easy to do, just separate the colors and put them in separate zip lock back and put the color and symbol on the bag. follow the chart fold in the end so the piece doesnt fall apart and you got it.. if you need some advice check this link out.

if you are just starting out, wal-mart has some kick-*** disney ones. i did an awesome eeyore one that was about 2 feet by one and a half feet in about a week.
